Mobile app development
I develop mobile apps connected to an existing backend or to one built together with the app: apps for end customers with Flutter, from a single codebase, and operational apps for staff in native Android with Kotlin, where performance and hardware integration are needed.
What I do, in practice
- Cross-platform apps with Flutter: a single codebase, the same experience on different devices.
- Native Android apps in Kotlin and Jetpack Compose for operational use cases: till, front of house, kitchen, deliveries.
- Sign-in with a Google account, push notifications, coupons and loyalty programmes.
- White-label apps: the same codebase generates an app with each client's name, colours and branding.
- Publication on the app stores and management of updates.
Who it is for
For businesses that want a direct channel with their customers, and for companies that need to give their staff a working tool on a phone or tablet.
A real example
Math Penalty, my real-time multiplayer game, is published on the App Store and Google Play in 10 languages. For the HoReCa platform I developed the customer app in Flutter, generated with each restaurant's branding and colours, and I am developing the Android POS app in Kotlin. View the projects →
Frequently asked questions
Is a native or a cross-platform app better?
For most customer-facing apps a cross-platform solution such as Flutter is the most efficient choice: a single codebase to develop and maintain. Native pays off when you need high performance or tight integration with the device, as at a point of sale.
Do I really need an app, or is a website enough?
Often a well-made website or a Progressive Web App is enough. An app makes sense when customers come back often, when push notifications are needed or when staff have to work in it all day. We assess this before writing any code.
Does the app connect to the systems I already use?
Yes, via API. If the existing system does not expose any, an integration layer is built. That way the app, the website and the business software all work on the same data.
